A session runs better when the song is ready before the room is. This is what we ask every artist to do before a recording day.
- /Lock the arrangement and the key. Studio time is for performing, not deciding.
- /Rehearse to a click at the tempo you actually want on the record.
- /Print or type out final lyrics, including harmony and ad-lib lines.
- /Book vocal training if the top notes are not comfortable yet — ₹899 per hour with a certified coach.
- /Send us two or three reference tracks so we know the sound you are chasing.
- /Rest the voice: sleep, water, no shouting, no late nights before the session.
- /Restring guitars two or three days before so they are settled and in tune.
- /Service anything mechanical — drum heads, reeds, pedals, batteries, cables.
- /Export stems as WAV, 24-bit, at the session sample rate — 44.1 or 48 kHz.
- /Same start point for every stem, from bar one, with no fades cropped.
- /No master bus limiting, compression or EQ on the export.
- /Name files clearly: LeadVox, DoubleVox, HarmonyL, BassDI, KickIn.
- /Include the tempo map and any tempo or time-signature changes.
- /Arrive fifteen minutes early so the session starts on the hour you booked.
- /Warm up before you walk in — the first take should not be the warm-up.
- /Bring water at room temperature; skip dairy and caffeine right before vocals.
- /Keep the room small: performer, producer, engineer and one person you trust.
- /Silence phones and smartwatches; they get picked up by the microphone.
A prepared artist usually needs fewer hours in the room — which means more of the budget goes into the production and the mix.

How many projects does Studio17 take at once?
No more than two active projects at a time. This holds regardless of whether the project is a single, a set of singles, an EP, an album or a commercial job.
Why does Studio17 limit active projects to two?
Because attention is the part of the work that cannot be scaled. Keeping active capacity low means the project in front of us is not competing with a queue of others.
Are prices inclusive of GST?
No. Every price listed on this site is exclusive of GST. GST at 18% is calculated separately and shown clearly in the quote builder.
What is included in recording?
An acoustically treated recording environment, the studio signal chain, professional monitoring and an in-house engineer for the duration of your block.
Does recording include an engineer?
Yes. An in-house engineer is included in every recording block.
What is included in In-the-Box Production?
VSTs, samples and loops, drum programming and full arrangement — a complete production built without live instrumentation.
What counts as a live instrument?
Any instrument performed and recorded in the room rather than programmed. Standard live instruments are ₹5,999+ each, with the final figure depending on the instrument and the session player.
What is the difference between the different Mix & Master tiers?
Tiers are defined by stem count and depth of work. Basic covers up to 10 stems. Detailed covers up to 25 stems, or 25–60 stems at the higher tier. Advanced Analogue covers up to 40 stems through analogue processing.
Does Basic Mix & Master include vocal tuning?
No. Basic Mix & Master does not include vocal tuning. Vocal tuning and cleanup begin at the Detailed tiers.
Can Studio17 arrange session musicians?
Yes. Tell us what the arrangement needs and we will quote the right player. Session player cost is reflected in the live instrument price.
What happens if a project has 60+ stems?
It moves to a custom quote. Beyond 60 stems the work varies too much to price from a rate card.
What is Apple Digital Master?
An additional master prepared to Apple's specification by an Apple-certified mastering engineer in Europe. It is a +₹3,499 add-on.
Do you provide Dolby Atmos / Spatial Audio?
Yes. Dolby Atmos and spatial audio mixes start at ₹39,999 and are handled by a certified engineer in Europe.
Can I get my mixed stems?
Yes. Mixed stems are available as a ₹3,999 deliverable.
Can I get the full project file?
Yes. The full project file is available as a ₹5,999 deliverable.
Can I book vocal training before recording?
Yes. Vocal training with a certified vocal coach is ₹899 per hour. Preparing before the session usually makes the recording better and shorter.
Can I get artwork and visual content?
Yes. Hand-painted and digitized cover artwork, digital artwork, visualizers, streaming canvases and social content are all available.
How does the consultation work?
